    Goats and deer

I'm getting to know my local area pretty well. Still just 1 deer from the area, but lots of goats. Haven't spent much time in the guts, more on saddles.

I've heard goats and deer don't like hanging around in the same area. What are other people's experiences?

The goats seem to like hanging out in the guts and creeks. What are the chances of me going after goats I can hear calling out of a gut, and bumping into deer?

The flatter ground might hold the deer, they don't seem to want to share with goats.

Avoid shouting goats if you want deer that same day, and practise getting close in and watching goats and exiting without the goats knowing you’re there, then apply the same stealth when covering ground for deer

I eas sent an image during the week of goats and deer together
The deer were using the goats as lookouts

Apparently it was pretty normal in that NI location

Yep goats and every other farm animal and bird species can be used by deer as early warning systems, parries and magpies being the most common, then spur winged plovers.

Not sure about the guts, but this is my experience in an open clearing. Went to my goat hunting spot with a large number of goats and I know the farm nearby holds fallow as well.

Stalked into the spot (very big clearing with some hills with forested areas on top) and managed to spook a hind and a yearling. As mentioned above, it's the goats that alert them. The goats tend to hang around or at a minimum come back not long after, but the deer were goooone!
