    Good start to the year.

On the first day of the year I shot (with the camera) my first game animal for the year.
Fallow doe at 35m. One of the few the barrage of 1080 in the Kahurangi hasn't got.

Excellent. I seem to recall a fallow on DOC land is something you've been wanting a good gander at for a while now.. other than the blur you spotted.

    She looks ready to bolt.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

Dead right there @Rushy. I had been watching her for about 15 minutes as she fed through the tussock but was only getting glimpses of her head as she raised it. I was siting out in the open and as she began to feed towards me she popped her head up and looked straight at me (That's when I got this photo and a short video). I was dead still but she obviously didn't like what she saw and was gone in seconds. Didn't see a young one with her either.

Amazing how fast those stiff bouncy legs can make them move
