Thread: Goodbye possums, rats and stoats

Nice article (not). The biggest elephant in the room is that it's us HUMANS we are the biggest pest.

The writer should think about that one. 1080 is not going to achieve anything in the long term except maybe delay damage in some areas. Went past a dead possum in Hillcrest today (Auckland). I have taped them in my backyard also. I cant see them using 1080 in suburban Auckland so there will always be a reserve of animals to re-invade areas. There is however some new electronic traps that can reset ans keep killing for months. But even the people I know who have worked on this for years are talking about achieving kill off to minimal numbers only. The electronic traps will act as a sort of fence to keep significant numbers from coming back.

This is a political stunt, nothing more.
