Ya know the North supplies the South Island most of the time as we have a more diverse (hydro, thermal, wind, coal) supply of electricity. Occasionally it flows the other way.
Other way round bud.When power is flowing north to south it is constrained by network limitations in the Bunnythorpe/Woodville section. Usually only flows south when hydro dams are low. Wellington area is largest user of southern supplied power north of Cook Straight.
