    I don't disagree but I'd argue that a hunter would spend more just by virtue of the exclusivity and remoteness (often) of the activity. Local industries (guides, heli pilots, taxidermists, etc) cater specifically for these types of people.

    I'd argue that it's naive to think that increased charges will benefit all New Zealanders. New Zealand hunters certainly wouldn't see any benefit from it. I don't think anyone at grassroots level in the tourism / hunting industry would benefit. I also don't think it'd deter many people at the end of the day.

    Net effect? Less NZ'ers gainfully employed, more at the top lining their pockets, local hunters still "disenfranchised".
