A number of the modern Garmin units have a function called "project waypoint".
Using this, provided the onboard compass is accurately calibrated, you can point your GPS at the kill, and tell it to make a waypoint XX yards in that direction. You should already have the distance from the shot..
Always check on the map to make sure this new waypoint looks roughly in the right place.
The other option is just to look on the GPS map and go "that spot looks like the right one" and plonk a waypoint there.
