Has the bullet run directly up his back?
So he was spotlighting and got shot in the back? Something smells funny.

I was wondering the same thing!!!
And that is why I don't go spotlighting!
Yikes
What a lucky bugger, must have lent over a coped it along the muscle. Yes there is a lot missing to this story.
Bloody 270 makes a bit of a mess
Crikey, theres a giant vagina behind you, don't look!
If its true he is a lucky boy. Not to many can claim to be in one piece after a 270 has bored a hole in ya. Must be a popular spotlighting spot. I always thought the best thing to do when spotlighting and seeing another spot light is just to go home.
Man this shit pisses me off, not just the fact some poor bastard isnt going to be able to tie his own shoes for a while but also because this shit slowly errodes the privilidges we have in NZ in regards to firearms.
Something smells funny as Brads said.
And if not he needs some new mates.
Yeah, shit that is scary shit, must of been a graze by the .270:ORLY: Otherwise they just no good.Lucky guy to survive that.
Hes very luck but something is a bit fishy.
Someone also pointed out on facebook, "how did he know it was a .270?"
Was just about to say that also
He was shot by his own hunting party, the dutch girls I have met also smelt fishy.
The 2 things that give away it was a .270 was first it didnt kill him and second it bearly hit him
Very lucky with a .270! Could have been a lot worse for a lot less.
Although mentioned "spotlighting" depending where he's from could have happily been on private land when shot by a member of their own party, and if they weren't then he has learned a heck of a lesson which he can pass on to others and one heck of a story to tell.
I hope he recovers well.
And from the looks of his comments he's happy for people to share for the awareness. Good on him.
Sh*t happens so I won't judge, it's nice to hear a survival story instead of another dreaded tragedy in the headlines!
I want to see the exit wound :wtfsmilie:
Lucky, lucky boy......as previously said, thats why i dont go spotlighting.....
Didn't know basic firearm safety only worked in daylight😆

Wound channel direction looks like its from a fence crossing mishap
From reading the report, it sounds like the victim was possibly bending over dealing to an already shot deer when his mate shot him :wtfsmilie:
It does beg the question as to wtf the the shooter thought he was looking at, as his mate must have been facing away from him so not even eyes visible.
Retards !
I ran into the last guy to get hit by a .270 in hospital by chance. I reckon he was covering for his mate who negligently discharged, his story was a bit fishy.
Also 30.06 family of calibers are overrepresented in hunting accidents at this stage.
What f@$ken retards ! . They all deserve too have licences revolved !
Lucky he wasn't brushing his teeth.
To me it beggars belief. Whats the shooter thinking ? If you were out spotlighting and had just shot a deer would you-
a) fire in the direction of your mate who is out there in the dark retreiving a deer ?
b) be stupid enough to think a deer would still be hanging around after a shot in the same place with all the noise/lights etc esp
with the spot light still being held on the general area.
c) completely fail to identify your target. No headlamp dim or not looks like an animals eyes.Unless your pissed.
d) fail to communicate whats going on with the rest of the party?
Two things- get a lotto ticket and get some new mates . Your currently hanging with dickheads.
I think I will stay home for a few more weeks. shes a dangerous place the bush:wtfsmilie:
He is on campbell live tonight so I will be watching with interest to see what he says
He was on the radio earlier on. The journalist who is usually very aggressive did not even ask him if he was on public or private land!
