    Malings pass Hanmer

    Anyone been over the pass lately . How is the track and can you tow a trailer over there at the mo . Cheers

    East side of pass would be bumpy for trailor,go slowslow the last k to the top.West side should be okay.

    Have you been over there before? I went over earlier this year and I don't think I would take a trailer. There were some very deep water run off channels on the western side that would be interesting.
    Experience. What you get just after you needed it.

    Went over the Pass last month just after the big NW wx bomb.The track was fine for a 4x4 with decent tyres except for one nazty wash out 100 yards west of the summit on the steep loose cutting. 1/4 of the track width on the edge had scoured out,meaning you had to put you inside wheels up on the scree slope to straddle past.Truck on a 25° list.
    It may have now been sorted,but if you get NW spill over it will likely immediately re scour out as it's now the new water table channel.Take hand tools - shovel,mattock etc.
    Normally the Canty 4wd clubs give it a kick in the pants following the usual winter damage

    Was in there 2 days ago. A couple of big bumps the towbar of my Ranger scraped on. One partial washout just after the pass the. Arrows the track quite a bit. Suppose it depends on your trailer and vehicle.
