    Molesworth archeron road closed

    Just got an email, due to fire risk (fair enough looking at the upcoming forecast.. And current example) road from the clearance bridge and cob cottage are locked. (how it is in winter I believe)

    All hunting permits cancelled

    Got the same email. Doesn't sound good for any Feb permits but hopefully re-opened before the roar. Raining in Hanmer yesterday but nothing at the Awatere end. Not much sign of rain in the forecasts

    Crap, was going to do the drive through there in a couple of weeks, wonder if the road thru rainbow is still open.

    "Unfortunately due to the extreme dry conditions and fire risk, Rainbow Station, Rainbow Road and Molesworth will be collectively closing until further notice as of Sunday the 10th of February at 7pm. After this time the gates will be locked and no public access will be granted (no exceptions). We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and are hoping for some steady rain so that the road may reopen. We appreciate your support and understanding. Please email info@rainbowstation.co.nz with any questions. "

    is it that dry down south? was going to drive and hunt couple days on the way home through rainbow start of next month.

    Road is reopening 5th of march, FENZ will be assessing conditions on a weekly basis
