Even the DOC biologists were mystified at his claims that feral cats were decimating native birds, and publicly disagreed with him. If what he was saying was true then Fiordland national park would be full of feral cats. It is not.
I reckon they are out there for sure. I have seen a set of cat tracks following some kiwi prints through a sand dune on doughboy bay stewart island not so long ago. Also managed to shoot one in Masons bay same trip.
