The trampers walk the tracks so you wont meet many, hunters should only be on tracks to gain access to other areas...if you are hunting in crappy bush in the Kaimai's then you are in the wrong place. I have taken more deer in the Kaimai's than any other place...helps that I live there but still the only time I hunt the thick stuff is for stags in the roar otherwise it is the fringes, clearings and slip faces. Judging by the cars in the car park at the road ends there are very few hunters or trampers in the bush today. There are plenty of deer, just not the hunters being good enough to be successful...so many are doing it all wrong... I was told yesterday of a guy, who while walking a particular track spooked six deer before he got a crack at one...and that walk was a quick after work before dark jaunt
