    New hunting ground

I got an invite to check out a property in CNI. Guy has a “hut” on a piece of land he kept after selling the surrounding farmland. Unfortunately no photos as someone dropped my apple and it now custard.
The hut is an amazing house built on the side of a hill, up a bloody steep driveway, all mod cons, off grid, but beautiful NZ cedar timer weatherboarded, the double glazed windows are huge an the lounge one nicely frames Mt Ruapehu.
All surrounded by native bush that is opossum free and actively trapped, bird life is unreal.
Being my first visit involved a good reci of the tracks and potential areas.
Its a steep climb from the back of the hut, and I ended up sitting last night looking out at the mountain and surrounding farmland and keeping an eye on some promising grass clearing heading up a ridge until dark, but only watch a couple of entertaining hares pissing about.
Headed back down in the dark and had a deer, unseen, crash away through the bush.
Went back up at 4:30 am this morning for much of the same, as dawn broke.
What an awesome place, I’d love to be 20 yrs younger, but will go back and explore further, The CNI is one beautiful piece of country, and Im a bit more fitter for the experience.
    Photos next time!
