    Okahu camp

Has any one been into this area since the washout, is the mid camp still there. Starting my where to go bit with my new wheels and its nice hunting the river flats and up the bush sides for a nice fat red. Now for the sika, what's it like in Kaimawa road, Waihaha camping ground or Urchin camp?, looks like a good area to get my 4x4 dirty. Thanks guys,

Kaimanawa is as dry as the Ozzie’s rugby trophy cabinet.
If you do go there, hunt the road edges to 3-400 metres in
Not sure about the others, sorry.
He nui to ngaromanga, he iti to putanga.

You depart with mighty boasts, but you come back having done little.
Sounds like a typical hunting trip !

Thanks guys, they are probably high up in the steep gulley's, I don`t like hunting in the hot weather, to dry, blow fly's and you can't cool your meat down, then blow fly,s again ,(If you get something), and I would need to pack the fridge with lots of beer so I can cool down. I`m thinking some time about March / April, a bit cooler, wetter, although it`s so dry now may carry on till may/Jun. Bloody global warming!!. Most places you can drive into there will always be someone there, so lets share, It`s lovely in the bush.

Yup. Went a while ago. Road is a bit rutted. Nice camp site.

Spooked a stag 30 minutes up a ridge near the camp. So they're there. But would be in the south facing gullies near the water.

Most sign was around 200 metres altitude.

There are a couple of side creeks from memory.

I spooked one 30 minutes up the ridge so they're close to the road.
