Pesticide summary - How to use it?

Have a chance to go hunting next weekend so started choosing a DOC hut etc then saw this image. That means pretty much no go doesn't it?

The list says it's Sodium fluoroacetate (Pestex), 1.5 g/kg, 1 month caution period, signs removed after 9 months. The notes on the DOC page says "Do not eat animals from these areas (except for areas where only cyanide and/or cholecalciferol and/or insecticides have been laid) while warning signs are present and operations are listed on the pesticide summary."

Is that a must rule, or a guideline? i.e. if I see a live deer it should it be ok to eat? Or absolutely don't risk it as it might have eaten some but not died yet?

I think it's only a hard rule for those who are "Certified Suppliers and Certified Game Estate Suppliers of Wild and Game Estate Animals".

They must document where each and every animal shot/caught, and have buffer zones to comply with.

    Personally, I would avoid.

Where 1080 has been used, any deer live and running around after four months will be completely fine to eat, with no worries. You could take deer and eat deer much earlier than that, but that's kinda like saying its ok push over book-max loads when reloading, in both cases you need to know a little bit more about the subject.

Where it is cyanide only just go hunting at any stage and don't worry about it. Generally the type of bait used to cyanide possums aren't that attractive to deer, secondly a full possum bait is likely to give a deer a fast but minor reaction so they'll never touch it again, and lastly it is metabolised out of the body quickly so no residue in meat with hours/one day.

Finally take note of the map that says "will be laid" vs "has been laid" , DOC seem to be pretty good at keeping it up to date. Get in there before the 1080 goes out!

Bugger. Looks like I need to find another area as the area I was planning is the red has been laid area :-(
I'm new to hunting but it's an area I've MTB'ed before and is in the Spot X book hence the interest in it.
