    Quad biking

Have decided to go the quad bike parth for hunting rather than spending $$$ getting the 4x4 kitted out. I've done the Rangitata and Wilberforce rivers and they were lots of fun. Are there any other good rides around Canterbury or West coast that are a good ride. Or are there any clubs that do it. Cheers.

I can't tell you much about canterbury rivers or clubs. But I can say quads are very handy, especially on private land. I was out on a high country farm yesterday and we got places we'd never have got a 4WD ute. Works for me as I can drive my old Subaru forester and not spend heaps on a truck. Also need quad on my wee lifestyle block. There are considerable downsides, big river crossings (that will be a thing for u in Canterbury) and you can't get all that much gear on (compared to a ute).

quads are great but do your basic checks nasty accident here a few years ago youngster killed rolled quad a check on quad one tyre was nearly 20 pound others around 3-4 pound completely stuffed point of balance - not a plaything really for youngsters and yet one sees it regularly - your only handicap will be rivers side by side may be better if thats going to be your thing - but check out how to breath a quad for rivers - can be done to quads

River will be a bit of a handy cap if too high. Side-by-sides are awesome but out of my budget so quad bike for me. Slow and steady.
Found a few good trails in West coast and try to get up in my mates Hilux. Was slow and we only made it a third of the way. The quad will make it up no worries.
