    Queenstown area - Day hunt

    Hi There,

Heading to Queenstown for wedding anniversary.

Looks like I'll have a day where the wife doesn't want me around....

So, Planning to head out with two of the kids 14 and 18 to see what we can see.
    Pigs,Goats,Deer whatever.

In the general area of Queenstown. Anyone suggest a block to try our luck for a day option?

10 internet credits for the best suggestion. GO.

    How fit?

Routeburn, Dart river, Mt Aurum, Mt Crighton are all spectacular with low to medium change of seeing something.

You don't have to try had to find a deer on Mt.Crighton but I recommend asking permission first. There are now cameras placed around the farm to catch poachers. You don't have to be too fit either, unless you want to climb to the top of the hill. Perfect countryside for the kids too.

As far as I understand it, aurum and 12 mile are both rha's, last time I checked up they were booked out 3 months in advance. You might get lucky tho.
    Ya can't park there mate.

    When?
I'm drawn to the mountains and the bush, it's where life is clear, where the world makes the most sense.

    Damn. Cheers,
We are down Wanaka way from time to time if that's near enough to your neck of the woods to give you a yell.

They're not RHAs, but restricted permit areas - small areas and popular, so not covered by open permit. theoretically.
