If I did more hunting or did things their insurance covered, yes I would rejoin for this coverage only. Would advise to request policy statements though.... you might be surprised what is not covered, or what is covered by other memberships, ie pnz .
Had similar experiences with two different clubs. Wouldn't bother even trying to join again. Dads army?

This mag used to have the best articles but NZ Hunter put a bomb under the other commercial mags and they've all raised their game out of sight over the last 5-10 years. H&Wild is now lagging far behind.

Partly its lack of commercial focus and the whole NZDA national org has somehow lost its way but is now being built up repaired a bit at a time.

Largely its due to members not writing articles and leaving it to older well respected stalwarts who can only say so much in a years writing.

    Suggestions:
It's up to members to write stuff and up to the editor to publish it. Stories sent in but never printed or delayed a year really put off those willing to contribute.
More technical articles eg similar to NZ Hunter
Should be at the forefront of reporting on the mountain beech and save the birds, predator free NZ, TB Free, biosecurity CWD, lyme, escapee wallabies, access firearms safety and what not
More political and ethical debate - doesn't have to be all NZDA policy - opinion pieces and debate should go in.
NZDA should lead with info on wapiti and other trophy development not leave it to NZ Hunter.
Good reports of NZDA activities (HUNTS and range work)
Not so many hunting stories. ( I hate reading about other people shooting deer when I havent myself)
    Hunting accident reports and lessons.

I think electronic only is a big backward step. If mere commercial mags can flourish why cant one run by the biggest hunters organisation with hundreds of members do even better ?
