Rod & Rifle Vol45 Issue 3 May/June 2024 has a four page article on Wallaby which shows their predicted range by 2025, 2035 & 2065 as being HUGE! There is a comparison photo of bush on either side of a fence; NO BUSH/Lush bush. I've never hunted these little buggers, but the damage looks worse than deer, goat or possums.

Recently, like in the past ten months there were six wallabies in the Kaitoke area, that's on the western side of the Rimutakas. Greater Wellington Regional Council shot all six I believe. I fricken hope so!

Penalties for moving or transporting Wallaby if up to $100,000 and/or prison for up to five years. So if you know anyone who is moving or transporting Wallaby, dob them in, you might get a share of the $100,000!

Yeah, the predicted spread is interesting.

I did some work on a property adjoining the Paeroa Range between Taupo and Rotorua in 1981. There were heaps of wallaby there then, and seems to me they have spread relatively slowly in the 40 years since?
