Dose anyone use a spotting scope phone adapter? are any of them good?
Yes, and no.
Or to put it another way, no and yes.
I've tried a couple of different options but found them all very frustrating and I'm damned if I can get them to work like the guys on TV. What I have noticed is you really cant use them with any kind of phone case fitted and it's just way to hard to remove your phone case every 5 minutes to take a photo. If I had a 3D printer Id make my own.
They can work very well, as testified to by the many amazing pics and videos on the interweb. My very limited experience has been they are finicky and frustrating things to use and as such I would advise against them, especially for any shot you will regret missing, such as a hunt. Rather, think of the other way round option - a hyperzoom compact digital camera and a stable tripod, and use that as a spotter - works far better for recording and depending on your needs, may be good enough as a spotter. Life is all about trade offs though.
They've been game changers for us. Early models were a little finicky to get right, and if you've got a big phone like one of the iPhone PLUS models, the weight can make it hard for the camera to sit squarely on the eyepiece, but we've had a lot of success with the newer versions that we use with our main Leupold Santiam spotter. On a still day, the images from the phone are often better than what I can film with my massive zoom lens -

What make/model are you using? I have a vortex Razor I’m thinking to get 1 for…
I've used a Phoneskope on my Samsung s10 for what feels like a few years now. Highly recommend
You can get a 30 dollar budget one that’s universal, adjustable eye piece and adjustable phone holder. They are finicky but the work, takes a couple hours practice at home and then it’s fairly easy and quick in the field. It’s not ideal and a lot more work than what the guys on tv make it look like but it works for me and saves eye fatigue
Anyone tried these adaptors? Looks like they work with a case on your phone

Obviously there is optical stuff on the web but what is the best of the best?
Meaning what is the best digi scoping combo long range still and video images that are top notch?
Perhaps someone like the BBC has a very, very, long range optical set up they are keeping a secret?
However congratulations cameraman Dave on what you produce.
as others have said phone skope adapter lives on spotter and my phone Skope case stays on my phone for the duration of the trip it literally locks in ready to go in about 5 seconds
Not the flashest but very cheap and functions perfectly. 40mm end cap, hole in the centre, ados’d to an old phone case (that had a front cover that I ripped off, hence the sand marks to get rid of the glue) tape on the end cap helps align the phone camera with the spotting scope.

I have one of these works great https://phoneskope.com/hunting-scope-mount-smart-phone/
Ive used Phoneskope for years, but this year changed to MagView. Is really simple, fast to set up and use, plus don't need a phone specific case.
MagView looks pretty good on ytube , I am going to have to make one

Interesting review
I also run the magview now, highly recommend
So with the mag view do you have a permanent magnet attached to phone? And that means wireless charging won’t work?
And does the unit stay on the spotting scope and double as lens protector? Can you use the spotting scope normally with the magview thing attached?
I have it permanently stuck to my Ottobox case
It won't wirelessly charge when attached to the phone
The unit stays permanently attached to the eyepiece, which protects it too
Yes you can use it normally, that was a deal breaker for me

Ah nice, I use wireless charging heaps so will just run 2 cases I think. Did you just buy direct from the website?
Best idea there I would say.
They had a big boxing day sale, 25% discount i think it was. Bought direct and had 2 sent to my brother in law who was travelling in the states.
Yes I just see they only post to USA or Canada
Message them on Social media/Email. Ollin Company https://ollin.co/ is another to check out. Their one the magnets are index so aligns perfectly each time. Ollin whilst the website says wont ship internationally will if you email them.
I have msg magview and they will not ship to NZ which is a shame as i can see them taking off over here. Also the ollin looks good i just don't like the fact u need pacific case for phone and also spotting scope, if u change out either you need a new set up again. Also Magview now do a magnet that allows wireless charging. Another one that looks the good is the phone scope adapter, they just realeased a magnetic version.
Sorry they are called “scope cam adapter”

Mine came via my US shipping address….www.shipito.com

I run a downpipe cap 50mm i think, glued onto a phone case, and if you get another phone rip cap of and glue it to the new phone case😂$20 all up, does the job lol
Only used it a couple of times as my spotter took much longer to arrive.
I'm not getting amazing results like you see on the hunting shows. My phone case is pretty chunky and I think the camera lens might be a bit far away from the eyepiece.
I'd probably go for a phoneskope if I started again but my current phone is a weird size

Cheers for that, I don’t think any of the options are as easy as it looks on the hunting tv shows
