It was a beautiful (hot) Hawke's Bay day with light easterlies, perfect for the usual goat cull location. This farm is plagued by goats from neighbouring forestry and un-managed bush blocks surrounding the back of the farm (he has removed 800+ goats over the last 2 years)
Due to homework commitments & school tomorrow, we were hunting the middle of the day. Starting near the property boundary, the Tikka T3x 6.5 swede (120gr Norma factory) did the job dropping 11 goats on the spot from 260 to 319m range, ensuring boundary respect.
From there was a casual walk over the hills, glassing faces, talking non-sense a fair bit, and giggling at goats rolling down the steep faces thanks to the Zastava 223 (Sako 55gr) out to 287m.
All up 21 goats off this farm today - down on the 45 last time. Not bad for 5hrs in the middle of the day, and a great time had by kids & the old degenerate. Oh, and a very appreciative farmer.
