Sunday shenanigans with daughter & her friend

It was a beautiful (hot) Hawke's Bay day with light easterlies, perfect for the usual goat cull location. This farm is plagued by goats from neighbouring forestry and un-managed bush blocks surrounding the back of the farm (he has removed 800+ goats over the last 2 years)

Due to homework commitments & school tomorrow, we were hunting the middle of the day. Starting near the property boundary, the Tikka T3x 6.5 swede (120gr Norma factory) did the job dropping 11 goats on the spot from 260 to 319m range, ensuring boundary respect.

From there was a casual walk over the hills, glassing faces, talking non-sense a fair bit, and giggling at goats rolling down the steep faces thanks to the Zastava 223 (Sako 55gr) out to 287m.

All up 21 goats off this farm today - down on the 45 last time. Not bad for 5hrs in the middle of the day, and a great time had by kids & the old degenerate. Oh, and a very appreciative farmer.

@Micky Duck have assumed it 1:12 but might pay to confirm based on your experience. Will keep an eye out for the yellow boxes

1:10 is mine, "made in Yugoslavia" sort of dates it. A lot of barreled actions were imported and married up with variety of stocks. In the right stock or properly bedded in the original they are stunningly accurate, and have a very very good fully adjustable trigger.
That yellow box norinco was truly excellent, fmj but behaved like a hollow point. I haven't seen any for years though

@Marty Henry the zastava 223 sure is a pleasure to shoot in these settings - lazer point confidence. Only gripe is the action being a bit notchy at times (and short bolt handle).

@Marty Henry I see from older threads/posts that you have broad knowledge on the Zasty - would love to see some phots of yours, and potentially pick your brains (via email for now until DM permissions are allocated?) Thanks in advance, and thanks for the rubber knob idea

Work the bolt like you mean it,don't baby it.five rounds only in magazine helps. To give you ideas how quick they can be.i had four pigs out in open about 75 yards away, they had no more than 30 yards to get to cover.i got all four with two finishing shots required...four hundy pounds of pork between them.

@Micky Duck - agreed, it cycles fine when I'm using it robustly - it's more when the teenage daughter is a bit more gentle (see pictures from Sunday). Nice haul of pork there!!
