Thread: Takapari road - deer fence in the middle of the bush?

Was roaming through the bush on the weekend in the flat section to the right of the bush road, probably about 1.5km up and ran into a deer fence randomly. Anyone know what it's for? I found one corner of it but didn't bother chasing the end, but it seems too deep into the bush to just be farming protection? And I can't see any conservation areas online, and the area is marked as an open hunting zone. Attached approximate location
