If I were you, i'd look to head up the road a little further and get onto some Wobblies.

I do a heap of small game (mainly rabbits) pest shooting here in Napier on orchards and love it for the casual walk of an evening, getting in lots of trigger time and practice which certainly helps with other types of hunting too. And it's easy to pop out 15 mins from home for a couple of hours without interfering too much with family life with two primary-age kids.

I must get around to organising a Wallaby trip, I'm mad keen to get amougst some of that action.
