Or maybe an Australian idea?
It’s our country so fill your boots, a tramper wandering through a block will mean bugger all to the local deer population, they have seen smelt people all year round, a tramper walking through your river flat or high ridge will hardly effect the stag or hinds in the next clearing.
Sure you’ve got a ballot block but by the third period you know your block has being walked all over..but that “one” stag is just that ..he’s sneaky , quiet , cunning then he’s gets ….maybe just hungry or starving.. and then it’s your on feed tree , slip , face ,that he’s chewing
@Rees What block?
Plenty of people on here have haast roar blocks.

No regulation prevent you to… Just use a bit of common sens I guess. Depending the configuration of the block, if there is a risk your activity will ruin the party for these lads then it’s a shit move especially from a fellow hunter. Place yourself in the opposite situation, you waited for the trip of the year, saved all these brownies point, invested in flash new gear, arranged travel, accomodation then bump into a tramper/hunter that scented all the playground….
Personally if I’m off for a hike with family and bump into hunters at the car park, I ask them what’s their plan and change our itinerary to make sure we won’t bother them.
Not everyone cares about hunting and may just want to go tramping and they can do that on doc land during the roar, sure its annoying for the hunters but its part of the deal on public land, you on the other hand clearly know its its not ideal for the hunters to have someone hiking around a block they're in-Dont be a dork mate, if you don't have to be"hiking" around that time don't go.
Thanks for all level headed ,realistic replies.
Will continue on with Plans.
We want to visit some Huts and check out some Valleys..
