Looking for a bit of expert advice.

My 14 yr old son wants to go hunting this weekend (long weekend) for his birthday.
Weighing up the Umukarikari tops or the Oamaru valley. I guess both about the same walk, time wise. One flat, one uphill..

Weather looks like we will be in for a hiding all day Monday, with very heavy rain forecast, which is why I started thinking Oamaru.

Any suggestions as to which might be better? Been to both spots a couple of times, so very little experience in the areas.
