    Waikaremoana - hunting

    Fella’s,
Anyone hunting from the lake with a boat these days?
Or has it gone a bit feral?

Was on the website just recently and and noted that hunting is excluded for 500 mtr either side of the track around the Lake so that means no hunting from the water.

Yes, that’s been in place forever, due to the popularity of the round lake walk.
I was thinking of a possible summer/Christmas mission; parking up somewhere for a few days.
You just don’t see or hear much now regarding hunting the Uwerea’s and what you do hear seems less than positive.

Hunting is the same as it ever was.

My interpretation of Laurie's question is that he's more worried about getting tangled up in the anti establishment attitude which is taking over NZ.
I wouldn't hunt there for that reason.
    Overkill is still dead.

Came out to the Hopuruahine Swingbridge to discover a flat tyre.... "bugger... shit happens" I thought.
Put the spare on and was putting the "punture" into the back and noticed it had been stabbed through the sidewall.

That brain dead mentality has existed for years .It is not location specific.*The reverse "race" issue saw similar refusals for access to the new pinus estate. The answer... do you know my cousins Bryant and May.*

bugger we did not have problems like that when I was there mind you we employed a lot of locals - should be okay at motorcamp - take an old bugger with you to "mind the wagon"

    7mmWSM interpreted my question correctly.
I’ve done many trips into Lake Waikereiti. It would have to be one of my favourite places in NZ.
I’m long overdue introducing my kids to it, that’s for sure.
I’m planning on taking my 14 yr old who so far is loving the outdoors. On a bit of an adventure over the Christmas break.
I thought a bit of an adventure on the boat with some camping and hunting thrown in would be pretty cool. I have one of those 4M truekit inflatable's. Would be easy to pull up and stash somewhere.
If I can leave my car at the camp/cabins, happy to pay them to keep it safe.
But I don’t want to end up with in a situation like Nimrod,

A lot of that area used to be closed to hunting over the summer.
Would pay to make some enquiries before you make plans.

just about all of the rotorua lakes are so I'd imagine most of the urewera lakes are too.

I’ll be at the campground from the 27th-4th. Happy to drop you off at the start of a track/pick you up if you need
