Whangarei you only get goats with the rifle, and pigs with dogs. The rest is gamebird hunting during the season which has almost come to an end. Good diving and fishing though to be had.

Here is a link with the areas you can hunt. http://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-rec...unt/northland/ I would be very careful to check that areas you hunt are accessible by not crossing over private land, or at least ask a farmer/land owners permission first without rifle in hand to see if it's ok or where best is to explore.

The Tangihua ranges are good for a few goats and a bush bash. Go to the end of mangakaramea road and ask the farmer if you can walk the 200m through his paddock to get to the bush and pick one of the steepest looking Spurs to go up and you should see something.

Plenty of turkeys and peacocks in northland and most far, ears hate the, so just go looking for some big mobs from the road and go do a door knock with a box of beers or at least a friendly attitude.

If you get stuck let me know and I might be able to source something, I don't have many spots but mainly because I don't have the time to use them.

Welcome to whangarei, what area are you in?
