I guess we all take similar stuff, but here's mine.

    Pack,
    sleeping bag,
Tent and sleeping mat (if camping)
    Warm Jacket,
    One pair thermals,
    Two fleece,
    Two pair socks,
    One shorts,
    Long sleeved shirt,
    Long pants,
    Sun Hat,
    Warm hat.
    Cooker + gas,
    Knife and spoon,
    Small pot,
S/S Mug (also used for cooking)
Continental Pasta type meals, (cheaper and taste better than Back country)
    Porridge,
    muesli bars,
    Cheese and crackers,
    Chocolate,
Raro drink (good source of energy),
Water bottle (1.5 litre for tops hunting),
    Head lamp and spare torch
    Spare Batteries,
    Hunting knife,
    G.P.S
    Map/Compass,
    Binoculars,
    Range finder,
    String,
    Plastic bags,
    Insulation tape,
    Basic rifle cleaning kit,
    Rifle/Ammo,
    Tooth brush/Paste
    Soap,
    T-Paper,
    First aid kit,
    Epirb.

    I think that's about it. :-)

What goes in your pack when you spend a week in the bush?

Fly to cook and dry stuff under.
It says survival biv, assuming this is on him all the time

It's the batteries I have trouble with especially the spares...you know...the spares for the headlamp [camp], spares for the headlamp [bum bag], spares for the GPS [shit, how many for a week], spares for the range finder, spares for the electronic scope, spares for the am/fm radio [gotta have one of them going all night in the hut], spares for the police scanner [gotta know if they are searching for me], then there's the vhf sets for me and a mate [they use a set every day], then there's the dildo [bloody D size at that], and the phone, cant forget the phone and I suppose the ipad may as well be in there...shit, might be easier to put rechargeables in every thing and carry a small generator in my back pack, but then there's the 50 metre power lead [cant sleep next to that thing popping away all night]...may as well take a flat screen and microwave and, and, and, an electric blanket.
Which is worse, ignorance or apathy...I don't know and don't care.

You'd be better off carrying the spares in your day pack, they don't take up much room and I'd rather have them on me if they're needed rather than no light and a flat GPS and unable to find camp in the dark.

Got a pretty good handle on how long they last, gps about 3 months on dick smith batterys god knows how long on some decent lithium things(mark camp or boat and turn off, turn on and mark point of interest like a wallow turn off) 99 percent of the time its in my bum bag or pack turned off, areas i know well its at home) Headlamp will do six or seven 3hour walks in total darkness on dick smith batterys.

I do the same with my GPS and know the life of batteries in my torch and headlamp (yes, I carry redundancies) but still carry spares. You can never be too safe.

Exactly. Paper and compass doesn't run off batteries.
