I'm leaving the guns in the safe and going to use a compound bow only this years roar for a bit of a challenge, running 30" GT Hunter 7595 arrows with 100gr Muzzys @ 305fps.
So what combo are you guys using on the stags this roar?

I'll load some SSTs or Bergers for my .308 bush pig. I think the 130g Barnes are a bit light.
120 Barnes TTSX.

303 single shot with a 215gr round nose woodleigh projectile doing about 2050fps. Canadians apparently use these for wild bear so I'm loaded for bear...
Nicknamed hammer as they hit like Thor's hammer......
I'll be using my 375 with 250gn bullets since my SAUM has no scope currently. Mind you I would be taking it anyway its just so damn cool to shoot.
I'll join in with a 260Imp 143gr ELD-X
270 using 140sst or 45-70 using 350gr FP.
Sako 75 308 165gn SGK
Sako 85 in .270 running 145gr ELD X Hornady Precision Hunter ammo
Marlin X7 in 7mm-08 pushing 140gr
Prob 7mm mag with 162 amax or 160 accubond. Or I might just go bugger it and take the 404 Jeffery with 400gr Woodleigh round nose n
I've had a good run over the last two weekends with my 17" barreled 284win pushing a 162g Amax, and have built good confidence with it, so will most likely use it. As it will be just as handy at 5 yards as it is at 500, and where I'm going there's plenty of potential for both.
22 hornet with 35gr v max na either 243 with 85gr game king or one of the 6.5x55s with either 120 amax or 140 hot core
212eldx in 300wm or 150sierras in my 308. Job done

The reds in the pine plantations in my area are huge.

Either
CZ550 7x64 with ELD-X 162's and iron sights, or
Kimber Adi 6.5 Creed with 140 Interlocks
Ruger Ultralight 270 feed it off the shelf Coreloks, I'm only interested in bang & flop.
Not FPS or what powder does what.
More especially I never shoot paper or gongs it's how I roll ;-)
Each to their own
More important to me is doing the hard yards, reading the sign and placing the shot well.

Old school Mauser M96 6.5x55 by the looks
The mighty rat gun, 243 using 100gr Fed Powershoks. Works as good as any combo out there in a hunters hands:). If hunting a area where shots over 220m plus are quite possible(im a bush hunter thou so only a couple spots offer longer distance shots)i prob take the 308 using 165ssts. Hopefully get at least one stag with both set ups and i be happy. moneys on the 243 to take the biggest thou:thumbsup:
It will be between the 300 WM with 180gr Noslar Accubonds or BT or my new rifle a Ruger American 30 06 running the same as the 300. Sighted in the 3006 today and it shot well and fast ( 180gr Noslar BT at 2827 Av out of 22" barrel. Might use something else if I feel like it. Maybe my 338 WM.
Il be taking my 3006 as well a cf2 shooting some 178grn Amax but if its raining or a little scrubby or a little to steep (I don't like to use her as a bush basher or a walking stick:) ) il take the 25-06 shooting 117grn spsbt
