    where can you sell velvet?

    A mate shot a cracker velveter and I have some in the freezer also.
    Can you even sell the stufg and where/how much?

    Pretty sure it is illegal to sell or barter wild venison or any part of it...ie velvet.


    Maybe pop down to your local f + c shop (if run by Asians) and ask them to make an offer.

    A friend sold some to Wrightsons(?) about 20 years ago.

    Find your local deer farmer, weigh it, put it in with his lot, PGG Wrightsons buyer [or maybe some other Co rep] comes out, takes velvet away and weighs and grades it, cheque back to seller [your local deer farmer] a few weeks later, and he passes on some money to you. Easy peasy! Approx $100 - $120 per kg at the moment depending on grade.

    Not many local farms on the coast

    Yeah mate grade is the big one if you thinking of selling it have to get it off an have the cut at the top keep all the blood in it an at the right stage in growth as well, 3 of mine where good prime buggers an I took a saw incase got a velvty ...................

    Oh yeah good to know. Got one big 12ish with big bulging soft tops and a few other bits and bobs.
    Bit of cash will be a bonus
