    The $3000 gong gun

I'm thinking of building a bit of a toy that might get out for a hunt here and there but primary purpose will be shooting steel. I've set myself a budget of about $3k and so far my I'm leaning towards:

    Rifle: Mossberg Patriot Laminate 6.5prc

Pretty agricultural rifles but a solid platform in the laminate stock and fits rem700 bases etc. Capable cartridge and it comes pre threaded for suppressor/brake

    $1149

    Scope: Arken Optics SH4 6-24x50

Seem to generally get very good reviews for the money, will do the job and they are apparently very very repeatable even more so than some much more expensive offerings. Mil, cos mil makes sense.

    $1099

Rings: Wheeler two piece with bubble level
Cos they look stong as shit and won't break the bank

    $174

Base: Talley Pic Rail for Mossberg Patriot

    $169

    Suppressor

Dpt, with stainless baffle (would I need magnum version with the PRC?)

    $435
Centerfire over barrel modular with s/s blast baffle 223wssm, 30/06 MK2 - DPT Machinists

    $3026

What say ye? It's amazing how quickly all the little bits add up
