    As above.

Is it a specialist varmint caliber, or can it be used to drop heavier beasts consistently as well.?

I use one on varmint, it’s pretty hilarious how far it throws them across the paddock! Loading 50gr zmaxs but I know a few guys on here have good success running 65grainers on fallow

Iv lost count how many deer iv shot with the m12 must be around 25-30 deer mostly reds a couple of them have been whoopers furthest 268 yards , chest shot large wound channel all the way to the off side under the skin ran around 30 meters using 55g spbt brilliant little sniper type rifles as always place ya shot but with these things that's half the fun there so accurate 0 recoil the rest of the deer have either dropped on the spot or ran less than 30 meters , its not the sort of cal id cart around in the roar or if expecting to take longer shots but its a lot of fun to shoot , haven't really tested it in the wind .

What size of pill do you use on reds?

Almost all 22.250 are 1:14 twist so you are limited on what you can use. But they are deadly. I used one meat hunting a lot until it lost its accuracy. I used 55 grn Lapua projectiles.

Mate shoots 1 and I have watched him head shoot deer at over 300 with it I'm looking at building up 1 for the kids but wanted a higher twist rate

Did it burn its barrel, or was it just a lot of use over time?

After Govt decided we no longer allowed black rifles I decided to try a 22.250 as always wanted one. Picked up a 1:10 twist Ruger. Barrel has ended up at 19" with an Oceania suppressor on end.
Quickly got some loads going with 69 Tmks and 4064. I'm stoked with it and sold on the 22.250. Used on Fallow and goats just hits that much harder than a 223 and I'm sold.
Seems to burn quite a bit of extra powder to do it but don't really care as such a handy rifle to shoot and zero recoil to hold sight picture.
Always felt 223 just bit light on animals despite shooting tons with it. Personally think it's just that much better and an ideal NZ cartridge if can get a faster twist.
Have ordered a tikka 1:8 twist but won't get here till next year to shoot 80 amax's with is the plan.

I used 40 grns W760 and 55grn. Burnt the throat out but they were full throttle and thousands of shots. A bit of not being looked after too - treated like the work tool it was. Am much better with mr barrels now a days.

Lol this would have been pre chrono days for Tahr. I have a Weatherby. 224 magnum that Tahr is going to take out after some deer same ballistics as the 22.250.
