I have a couple of 22's... but they barely leave the safe. 90% of my small game hunting is done with the 17HMR.
22s are brilliant for practice, but in the field the flat trajectory and power of the HMR makes it far more useful. If you're hunting, 70c vs 18c isn't an issue.
As some of the guys have said, get both
Have you considered the CZ455? That comes as a 17HMR, with a 22LR barrel (and you can get 22 magnum too). CZ's are fine rifles, I've had 2.
And the 223 smokes the hmr at the same cost of ammo. So get the .22 for the cheap rabbiting then later get a 223......
And 70c vs 18c is an issue if your firing over 500 rounds for a day....
