    223 suppressor recommendations

    Hi all!

Recently acquired a Marlin X7 in 223 with a 1/2-20 thread. Shooting rabbits to fellow. What suppressors do you guys recommend with around the $400 mark?

DPT are good value and do the job well.
I have one in .308 that I use on both my .308 and .223 with no issues.

Nielson Sonic 35s, I own 2 of them cause they work so well.
Each aluminium baffle has a stainless blast protector, they're a little more compact than the DPT and a similar price.

DPT should cover you. Please remember to clean it after every use to keep the warrenty.

I have a DPT and have no complaints at all. Pulls the noise right down and is lightweight. Being modular it's easy to strip and clean.

I've got 2 of them as well. Also have DPTs, but the Sonic 35s are just so compact for a 223.

Another vote for the Nielsen Sonic 35. DPTs are good (I own both) but for the 223 the smaller volume of the Sonic 35 is fine. They are also modular so you can remove baffles in the same way as the DPT.

Do I detect a hint of satire and some sour grapes in that comment...?

Noticed with DPT over barrels you are required to machine down a bushing that sits on the end of suppressor to barrel. Is there anything like that with the sonic 35 or just a straight fit?

a bush on an over barrel is the norm for most.
any quality brand silencer will see you just fine on a 223.
There probably at least 6 brands locally that would all be quiet similar and for a lot it comes down to personal preference and what your mates use or what you can pickup second hand at the time. Just remember you will need a new rear bush for the over barrel suppressors which most would recommend as they add far less length to your barrel, 75-150mm.

Most places will ask for your barrel diameter where the bushing sits, and send you the correct bushing size with the suppressor.
At least this has been my experience.
