    22LR AR-15 Magazines

I want to purchase a couple of 25 round magazines from the US. These are 22LR mags to fit in a AR-15 (E-Cat)

Are there any issues or permits required to bring them into NZ?

    Thanks,

Import permit required. US export permit not required if you order less than $100 worth at a time.

    Yep.
Although good luck getting 25 rounds in the mag, I find my Black Dog .22lr mags only take 23 rounds. 24 jams and 25 is impossible.

Just fill out and sign 3 forms, then post them to the exporter. It costs $250 USD for the permit + whatever the exporter charges for filing the paperwork. Brownells doesn't charge anything extra on top of the permit.

What is involved (ie. paper work/ cost) to get import permit?

I see these (magazines) are approx $20 USD each from US compared to $99 NZD to buy locally. Just wondering if the juice is worth the squeeze.

    Cheers,

    Cheers,
Go to your local police station and fill out an import permit application form. No cost.

You will only need the Export Permit if the items exported exceeds US$100. Only then do you pay the US$250 fee.
I might look to get some at some stage.

Is it a one off fee to get registered or one for every export over $100?

Wow so if I wanted to buy a $101 USD Bolt carrier group it would cost me an additional $250....

AR-15 are going to become an endangered species. Is the permit required for all AR-15 parts over $100 or just certain things?

All receivers and barrels regardless of price, and all shipments of 'firearm parts' over $100. The definition of a part vs accessory can sometimes get a little blurry.

It's not just AR15s. It's all firearm parts.

It's getting upped to $500 before requiring a permit, and it will be cheaper to get a permit early next year.
