I ran a competition 224 Valkyrie for a while but it only gave about 100 fps more with 80s and 88s over a 223, that with its poor feeding habits (yes magazines can be tuned but even then there are the occasional issues, always at the worst time) was enough to put me off.
A guy here had a Ruger Ranch (16") in 22 ARC at the range the other day. Nice enough rifle, felt good. It fed OK but wasn't smooth feeding like the 223 from the same "STANAG" magazine setup. It shot quite nicely with factory ammo, but heck Hornardy ELD--VT 62s were only doing 2980, hardly anything over a 223 . . . .
One plus for the 6x45 over 223 is bullet weight. I've shot these 105gr Speers out of mine, which would be a great bush slug.
