This fallow yearling still managed to run 50 yards.
Front on shot through the neck and out it's left side.
No more 162's on fallow for me.

Just aim for lungs on smaller deer. I’ve found the younger animals can take a few steps while full body reds have all been bang flops when targeting high shoulders.

162s leave an impressive blood trail so who cares if they run.

Not worried about them running so much but would prefer to be able to take a bit more home with me.

Will keep the 162's for reds or longer shots

I wouldn’t right them off if they shoot well mate threw neck and out the side sounds like a bad angle that’s hit nothing good iv shot plenty of fallow 10-300yards with 162 and 180 eldm to good effect

This is my shortened Remington 700 in 7mm08, good little kaimai killer. I'm moving to a town under the ruahines soon though so might need to get something that pushes a 7mm pill abit further.

That's not a bad idea, be nice to push a heavier pill. But I wouldn't mind keeping this as a bush hack and getting a fancy longer range setup. Just let me make bad financial decisions would ya.

We run 110 TTSX in our Tikka 7-08's with 20" barrel, 3400 fps, pretty aggressive up close, have used out past 300 to great effect, no recoil, no lead, good times
