    AR15 Comparision

Hey guys, just after some opinions or experiences. Im looking at getting a new AR15, and im stuck between choice on the factory built NEA-15 14.5" Carbine or if I should go with one of NZ AR15s kits. I understand whats involved in building an AR and its something id like to do but would like to know if the kit is of good quality.

    Kit details as follows:

Anderson Manufacturing 7075-T6 stripped lightweight upper receiver (No FA or Dust Cover)
    Anderson Manufacturing 7075-T6 stripped lower
Faxon 14.5" Gunner Profile mid length barrel 5.56mm 1:8
Faxon lightweight low profile gas block
    Formosan gas tube
Aim Nickel Boron M16 bolt carrier group
KE Arms premium lower parts kit
    Formosan 7075 charging handle
    Formosan A2 buffer assembly
    Spear Mags A Category Stock
    Seekins NOXs 12" Rail
    ACS 5 Round Magazine

Whats the issue with the Spears stock? They look like one of the more visually appealing stocks in the A category to me at least

The good bit about facory built is that if there is a problem it gets sorted
so if you dont know what you are doing its sometimes best to go factory
a gun that dosent run is a pain in the ass

Spear stocks look OK for a cat dog turd looks nicer than those thorsden ones I've just picked up a NEA ar I could build one but it was cheaper to get a completed one and as above if it doesn't go properly you can take it back

The main things you want to be of good quality in an AR are the barrel and the bolt. Your build kit ticks both those boxes.

I personally like the forward assist and dust covers so the kit wouldnt be my choice. Id look at a faxon pencil barrel if you are after light weight

The new NEA's look awesome in the flesh, they have come a long way in recent years, and you wont be upset.
If you want light weight go for the kit, otherwise the NEA would be a great rifle.

There are better A-cat stocks out there now, like the Katapo one from NZAR15, but the spears is ok, some have complained the grip is a little narrow... but it works and looks ok... ish...

The Katipo stocks will retail for the same price as the Spears IIRC

I think the stock Q, is a bit of a Holden - Ford debate, it's whatever really you like and fits you.

However the bolt and barrel, is something else. Buy the best you can.

And back to the op, the kit is great or buy the nea - so I'm no help at all and I like the ace stocks......
Please excuse spelling, as finger speed is sometimes behind brain spped........ Or maybe the other wayy.....
