    BAD THOUGHT

I been reading and reading about the "fancy" 224 Valkyrie and i did compared the "similar" projectiles weight in different calibers and also the most popular within the 6.5 Creedmoor and 260 Remington and i came with the idea ( i am SURE it is not my idea but at least i am putting it up here first i believe) about a short action "caliber" shooting the 90gr Sierra match king or similar in .224 caliber from a Creedmoor case… more like a ".224 Creedmoor". do we have any "silly" gunsmith who would "fancy" a "crazy" project???

Bring it on the Creedmoor case haters! LOL!

Would be pretty close to a .22-.243 wouldn’t it?

Well!!! i don't think so, would pretty much compare the 260 Remington with the 6.5 CM… however the CM case would creat similar velocity with less powder and a "shorter" case too, saying that the projectile can be seated longer improving the case fill…
Just my thoughts, i am NOT an expert in "wildcat" cartridge… just having a "bad thought"… LOL!

    22-250 imp????????
but at end of day you just trying to do what savage did umpteen years back with the .22 high power savage...poke a 80 grn pill out fast enough to be plurry deadly. a great pity more guys dont shoot this awesome old round, put it in a .224 fast twist barrel and the world is your oyster and best of all it will be ideal in break open.

It does have some value as an idea, be more efficient then 22-243 and if you make the neck long for caliber throat erosion will be slower. You'll need a 1:7 twist barrel ($600), custom reamer ($250), blank dies for reaming to reload($200) and about four hrs labour.

Been reading the thoughts you guys are giving and came in mind that i may have been foolish… is only the 6mm that have those "fancy" target cartridges such 6mm PPC, etc??? I may throw out something that already exist…

1:8" may be good enough as the bullets will be going quiet fast… maybe not…

most ideas have been tried before..... even the new skids on jock are just the wheel reinvented to some extent. the .32/20 was firing a 80-100 grn slug at subsonic speed for decades before we decided to get all fancy with aac blackouts etc. the .45 long colt is another same effect as subing a .44mag

    I have the 22 Terminator, 22 Grendel & 22-243 AI reamers & access to 22-243.

I had been considering getting the 22 Creedmoor reamer, I read about it years ago, it would go nicely with my 6 & 6.5 CM reamers.

The 22 Grendel goes extremely well & is exceptionally accurate, but feeding the small case can be an issue with conventional platforms, its incredible in the AR15.

The most under rated & easiest is the 22 Terminator, perfect in a Tikka 223 donor rifle.

Cheers @Kiwigreg, thank you for “chip” in...
Why I brought it up is simple, with the “big thing” over the Valkyrie on the AR15 platform I can’t see the “benefit” of that cartridge on a bolt action rifle and the same line(weight) of projectiles can be pushed easily even a bit faster from the bolt action and a little larger case. I read on the li I I share the pros and Cons of the different cartridges in the same or similar class, pretty much included these cartridges you mention kiwi Greg.
The intention I mention/created this thread is also looking exclusively on TARGET SHOOTING something g to somehow compete with the “big boys” from long range In a “small Bullets” also can win match’s kind of things. If the Valkyrie. An be supersonic up to 1300yards for how further it would be at a bit more velocity (3100ft/s)?

    Cheers.

    Mac
