    I found a new Savage MkII for $349 so will probably grab that next week on pay day.... Everything I've read about them seems to be exactly what I'm after. Good basic, reliable, accurate shooter. Thanks for all the input everyone; it's been extremely useful!

    Yup the savage mk2s are great little guns, miles ahead of norincos...

    I have one in stainless and I had a blued one but it's in my brothers safe now.
    Only downside in my opinion are the magazines.

    The marlin xt22's are another good choice, with better magazines than the savages. Picked both my savages and marlin sub $350 including scopes and silencers.
