I'd like to add a nice rimfire rifle to the collection. I'd like something that isn't built like a toy like most rimfires seem to be. Ruger 77/22 is an option but reasonably obscure. What else am I missing that is easily available?

Weihrauch
Ryan,
As long as your willing to spend a little or a bit more than that, look at an Anschutz 1712.
About as good as it gets in factory field rifles. Match action, beautiful 2 stage triggers, cut rifled barrels.

My Weihrauch HW60J in 22LR is boringly accurate at 75m with just about any brand of ammo. Feels noticeably more weighty compared say a CZ452 American. Action is tight, precise, with no slop, and probably over-engineered. Best half cock in any rimfire rifle, not that most people ever need half cock on a 22LR.
Trigger is good but mine doesn't feel as superb as the rest of the internet says. Not a fan of the hog bag stock either. The HW66 is essentially the same with an American style straight comb and no open sights.
Reloaders should stock them.
Lithgow LA101 sounds like it should offer a similar feel. Although I've never handled one in person.

Bruno #2.
I would go for a 77/22.
Once they are worn in they are a loverly Rifle. They feel more like a mini centerfire than a .22.
Ruger 77/22s seldom meet accuracy expectations, but are nice rifles. I'm a Lithgow LA101 fan, they will outshoot just about anything including Annie's and the stupid expensive stuff like Voodus, but are very usable, just a adult sized rifle that uses CZ magazines. The CZ 457 is also available in man size configuations but can be a bit of a barrel lottery.
Basically all the 22s over $1000ish are good these days. Just avoid the obviously cheap Marlin, Savage type rifles and you'll be good.
The CZ457 would be my pick if money is tight, T1x and Bergara B14r are other good, cheaper options.
If money isn't a concern a Anschutz 1727 is the ultimate rimfire IMO.
CZ, Tikka, Bergara, Anschutz, Weihrauch, Lithgow, Sako, all make nice rifles that'll meet your needs.
What about a Remington 541T HB. A rarity these days. I have a HB , Sporter and S
Winchester 490 is a full-sized rifle . Semi-auto though so that may not suit your requirement
Ive got an annie its not the top of the line one but still the nicest rimfire I own and shoots better than I can. Just dont try drilling it for a rail :)
Mauser 201. Voere 2000. Sako Finnfire.
None of which meet your availability brief however.
steyr make a beauty I believe its called a zephyr very nice
A Zastava 223 is a big boys rimfire
Easily available physically but maybe not financially - this is my wishlist: https://www.guncity.com/22sako-p94s-...hreaded-406765

That's a nice looking rifle!
If I was looking for another 22, Id be holding out for a BRNO model 1 or 5. They come up occasionally.
I'm not a massive Tikka fan but the T1X Hunter with the flush mag is a very pretty rifle, expensive for a .22 but i wouldn't mind one!
I will put in a great 22 for the older Remington 541S they are a very nice .22 - come up every now and then- and the pump remingtons same era just work may require some work to put a can on though - most shot very wellAttachment 275215
photo of a steyre zepher certainly on my I want one list
Sako have made some nice .22Lr's. The M78 and P94 pictured above are nice all metal and timber rifles. The later models (post 94 Quad and Finnfire) have a bit of polymer in them but are still high quality and shoot well.
The Lithgow 101's shoot well, but are a heavier cross over range and field designs.
Look out for rimfires from Cooper and Kimber.
Rimfirecentral is a good forum for this discussion topic.
CZ and Brno are Ok but boring.
I do like my Norinco EM-332... good heft and proportions, although a bit scarce on the used market these days.
I'm probably going to move my 10/22 custom competition on. Pretty cool little rifle i just never use it. Open to swaps for something fun
Anschutz 1422

Kimber :)

Found one

Had another one a few years ago, now only sold it to help finance a Barrett M107-A1 :)
I have a Mauser M201, worth buying if you can find one. Had an anschutz 1517 which had to go back for a visit due to accuracy issues. It was sorted and shot very well but its a small rifle, too small for my liking.I sold it for a Weihrauch which is a better rifle all round, better trigger, better action and better precision . Its a full sized rifle with a heavy barrel . I'm now using a steyr zephyr II which is also full sized but lighter. I like the stock on the steyr and the weight and balance but the engineering is better on the Weihrauch at every point.
If i was to buy another it would be this one.

The 77/22's are nice
I just bought a Weirauch HW66. I'm loving it so far, a little heavy but not too bad.
The CZ 457 Americans are nice and light but the weirauch hog back stock feels nicer to shoot with
Mine has been awesome over the 30 years I have owned it. I have personally never met anyone who had actually owned a 77/22 and sold it be because of its "accuracy issues" .
It's usually one of the last guns their owners say they would sell.
Original Steyr Zephr's are popping up now, they are beautiful .
Lithgow - LA101 Crossover Rimfire Rifle. Deadly accurate, ergonomic and well engineered.
Tentman would be the guy to talk to . He is a .22lr slut and has shot most of the modern rifles on offer , so can tell you his experience - good or bad
How about a Henry Golden Boy 22 Mag?
Does big boy mean big wallet?
Sporter styles:
Anschutz 1761, 1712, 1710.
"Crossover" styles:
Bergara B14R, Lithgow LA101, Weihrauch HW66JM.
"Big Boy" rim fires:
Vudoo, Zermatt Rim X, Anschutz 1727.
Heirloom quality and no longer manufactured:
Cooper 57M Custom Classic
All the above listed depending on use and budget. I've owned them all (and a heap of others).
Tentman...Talking of Lithgows (again), I decided to finish this one off - Now fitted with a 4 GR Benchmark - Very happy with how it turned out.

Hey Allen, very nice. Have you heard of any further trigger upgrade talk for the LA101s, a true match trigger would take them "next level".
My further thoughts on this, the current (last 10 years ? Hammer rifled) Ruger barrels can be superbly accurate, and the smoothest 22 we tested from everything on the rack one day was a SS Ruger American varmint. I bought it and it did indeed shoot pretty well, the Americans bedding makes it difficult to get precise and repeatable bedding though. A further personal dislike I have for the ruger 10 shot mag is its width, rifles built with them just don't carry as nicely as those built around a narrower action style.

Just do it!
