birthday for 117 year old mauser

Due too lack off deer ive decided too give the 357 a rest and start carrying the sweede again.
never liked the sewer pipe handle on it before so i bought a new boyd stock in for it.
Boyds will export any stock under 100buks US , and I had no dramas with customs or crap like they have had in the past.
It said unfinished , but came fully sanded and had a thin polyerathane finish. I was going too pillar bed it and fuck around but the fit is mint so for now im just going too float the barrel and see how it goes .
The 2 previous unbeded stocks used too shoot sub MOA 5 shot groups all day long form the bench , but that was 25 years and 6 inches of barrel ago so heres hoping.
With the lock time sped up and a stone job on the 2 stage trigger , what more could a real hunter wish for .

Looks sharp. Recently picked up a sporterised M38 - unsure what year it was originally made, as the stamp is under the scope mount.

Me and the old man bought a few from Welington sporting arms 30 years ago . They were flooding the country with them at about 100 bucks each (un fired full military ).
All were dated around 1898 and carl gustav or huskvana. The old man had no probs printing 1 inch 50yard groups with iron sights the day they arrived.
Im pretty scrawny and it was the lack of recoil and simplicity of the action that sold me.

The m38s that came in were mostly Husquis made in 1942, I bought sporterised one and still have the other original. Stunning shooters, wish you could still get the battle packs of military ammo they offered with them now/

The cock on opening kit from Dayton Traiser speeds up the lock time (twice as fast I think ) and as a bonus there is a notch at ' half open bolt ' .
Ive never used the safety since the kit was fitted , and wouldn't have it any other way .
Good luck finding one and getting it here though. ( if you can get 2 , my mate wants one for his. )

Ok I've just got a timney in mine I wouldn't bother doing that mod they are a very accurate rifle for a military rifle considering their age
