Holy smoke, is a local brand made near Hamilton.
We will have no problems, so long as the local stuff is still made.

    As for Goex. A shame.

    Generally unhelpful

There is a manufacturer in NZ that makes perfectly acceptable black powder
And other brands from the likes of Gunworks

But it will get a whole lot harder for the off shore brands to be brought in
Not the sort of product you want to hoard a huge amount of just in case something goes wrong

Yeah, surely any loss of a supply chain hurts.

I heard of a double garage with a professional ball mill inside it. the only time I saw the garage, it was a concrete slab.

Would have paid to see it go off!

i know the guy who makes holy smoke powder
busy developing a powder designed for black powder cartridge rifles its not officially released yet (as far as i know) but he gave me and a couple of the other guys some to try
and its very good its a bit bulky so you cant fit as much powder in the case but its more powerful
55gn of it is within 20fps of my normal 60gn swiss load with good es and sd

its good to know we will always have an option made here in nz that's almost as good as the high end European options

Yup, I hope he has a plan for someone to take over the business once he has had enough.

Might even be a market for his product in the US now...
Although that would swallow our ration pretty quickly.

I have found Holy Smoke to generally be more energy dense by about 10% compared to most other powders
So a coarser powder optimised for BP cartridge rifles will be a nice thing to have available
