Anyone got one? Thinking about getting one in 7x57R. Any pros or cons?
@K95 :)
How much?
Always loved the purest approach of the single shot for deer stalking
just buy a Begara or Baikal if you want a single shot
I have a K95 Luxus Left hand 6.5x65R
Pros
Beautiful
light
compact
breaks down to stow on the long slog out
accurate
blaser quality
great ice breaker in a hut full of strangers
Cons
big $
lively recoil as very light
my class 4 walnut has taken some serious beatings .... but I didn't buy it as a "cabinet queen"
here are 2 stags I shot with it this year

What $'s we talking here?
The sky is the limit with the high end engraved models.
I have seen them up to Euro 25k
But $5 to $10k nz Im guessing
My one has a fully hand engraved action and very nice machine engraved side plates.
This is the engraving pattern on my one.
Luxus class 4

And this is where you can go if your wallet is bulging.
Full side plates just so that there is more space for the engraving. Sadly not mine.

5k isn't bad. That's cost cut Sako carbonlight money. Being single shot I assume the rimmed cartridges are better suited?
Base model is $6300 ish. So over $1000 per lb. cheers for the info @akaroa1
To the OP. Get one. They are sexy as!!
If I wasn't looking at getting another Perazzi I would get one.
Norway had one.
@akaroa1 yep will be ringing Joel tomorrow or Monday. I'll be going with the standard model, about 2 grades below yours.
I see they come in standard calibers too. Do they have ejectors or just extractors that lift the case a bit? I would have one in a heart beat. But the price might stop my heart beat.
I can hear the conversation in the "Stug" home. "Well honey, I make the stocks and the money has been going into paying our mortgage for five years, so I guess I sort of deserve a treat...eh honey...and if I sell the R93...?" :)
Just extractors I think. Different shape for rimmed vs non rimmed calibres. Selling. My R93 and the 223 barrel has covered most of the cost. My wife is pretty good with my spending, but I have put nearly $5000 into the kids horses, so it is a short conversation.
Come on @Tahr, get into it .You're only young once.
For about 25 years I only had one rifle, Rem 700 30/06. No thinking required when I went hunting. I was bloody good with it. One goat shooting trip we bumped in to a couple of other hunters. They had heard us bombing up a mob, they wanted to know if we were using semi automatics. In the last couple of years I've bought a few other rifles and have to think which one to take depending on the trip. I've missed the last 3 deer I 've shot at. I need to get back to being a one rifle man. @Tahr sell a few rifles, 2 or 3, and you could have a K95 as well.
Stutzen black edition would be nice
The K95 Baronesse is my dream rifle... in something like 6.5x55. They usually have a photograph of one in the Swarvo catalogues. Such beautiful rifles...One day maybe...
Wilson Outdoors(?) has a K95, only $35,000. Might be a Baroness. The latest Blaser catalogue has has great pics.
I had a special set of dry bays made by "Twin needle" to slip the parts in to when taken apart and the scope is off.
They slot nicely into the side straps on my pack and the scope is tucked inside in its neoprene cover.
Niggeloh does a very nice sling that has two cartridge holder loops built into the bottom end of the foam strap part. Very nice product and there are always a couple of cartridges handy.
Once you get a load sorted its just go hunting. No bedding, no tinkering just go hunting.
When I hunt alone there is always one in the chamber and its very fast to cock and shoulder in one motion. @stug I hope you like it when it arrives.
But Im not sure about the one rifle idea, personally.
I use a couple of R93s for the basic handy meat hunting and have the luxury of being fussy about what I shoot when Im away in the alps and trophy hunting and thats when the K95 gets used. Its covered a lot of country with me and doesn't often get fired.
I guide ( for koha ) a few overseas visitors each year and don't really need to carry a rifle ( they always have my R93s ) but just can't bring myself to not have the K95 on my shoulder even if Im unlikely to use it.
Stug, a few years back I wanted to scratch the quality single shot rifle itch. Like you I traded a rifle that had found it way to the outer in my safe. Traded a sako 75 and cash for a Merkel K3 single shot in 7x57R. It's fitted with a 3-9 x 42 kahles and weighs 2.8 kg scoped. My first reloads with a 139 on Ww 760 put 4 of the first 5 shots in one hole at 100 meters. Trigger is outstanding and adjustable. Uses Rectnagel mounts which return to zero . Stock is the Germanic hogs back same as the Blaser. I use mine mostly as a feeder filler, light carry and it works well. For longer range and trophy type hunts where I want the bipod option I use s bolt gun or a R8. In a light rifle the 7 x57 seems about right but I have a mate with one in 300 win mag that he uses well.
Either way, they are worth a look.

Akaroa1, what scope is that on your Blaser?

I have 4 blaser rifles, 7 barrels, 7 saddle mount sets and have Leupold, nightforce and zeiss scopes in them.
They are all do whats expected of them.
I don't have the Blaser's because they are made in Germany.
I have them because they are ideal for what I want to do with them.
I hardly ever look through the scopes. Maybe for 10 seconds would be total scope time on a long hunt.
But I spend countless hours looking through my Swarovski ELs and ATX 65 spotting scope.
Thought I had a Blaser problem😆
I would like a K95 one day but I honestly couldn't find a use for another R93 or R8.
I will just keep adding barrels😆
I have 2 carriers and 4 bolt heads with 2 spare. 4 scopes and 4 saddle mounts.
Nothing wrong with a loopy on a blaser either special Jimmy.
I actually use my little 2-7 fire dot the most. Think it is classed as a shotgun scope? Great bit of kit.
Can't find another scope as light and reliable in the same size without breaking the bank. Cost me under 400 oz 😆

Yeah your right it is a VX-R 2-7×
No worries on the K95 I have a couple kids I wanna sell. That should cover the varnish on the wood. Keep an eye out for the courier😆
You probably could teach it better than me. I have only shot around a dozen deer in the last year. Weather and work has put a damper on getting out for myself as much as I normally do.
I will let you take me and Marcus out for a sika in September. He will be up the same time as me visiting outlaws in Napier.

I just don't rate them, they are not a particularly expensive Rifle in Europe either.
They look nice and are fairly well made but none of it adds up to the price they charge for them. They are a "snappy " quick handling Rifle that just dies in your hands the moment you put an optic on it.
For the New Zealand retail price you can get a used Heym Double Rifle or a really tidy Farquharson falling block that is a hand made master piece.
I get to shoot alot of higher end Arms over here and would place the K95 well done the desirability list. You can buy hand made second hand single shots in Germany for a fraction of the price if you can tolerate reloading some more obscure calibers.
@norsk - that's a little unkind, not really good form to comment negatively on another mans purchase, even if what you say may have an element of truth from your perspective.
Philip C. Bolger remarked about a yacht design he produced - "for somebody who doesn't have the price of a Rubens original, there may be some merit in a Playboy centerfold" but even this is not quite right in respect to the wonderful functionality of the K95, especially in our very robust NZ environment where some of the fancy euro firearms don't fare too well.
