I posted a how to thread about this a couple of weeks ago on this forum. Others have offered more knowledgeable advice but i found on that day:
There wasnt any opportunity to declare the scope when leaving the USA.
The only oppportunity to declare it on arrival was a grey zone statement to mention anything over NZD700 purchased tax free which seemed to be to collect gst. Its not so easy to get sales taxx refunded in the US so i concluded there was no need to declare it.
Warranty can be an issue if an expensive scope as some are not valid outside USA. That put me off buying a swaro there in the past.
