It is.But I agree that it is damned good and seems to be having a resurgence.

Hey Ive had one a-bolt and now have 3 Tikka's love the things . The mags are great and work good
Every one might have one alright but i would buy another there that good .I've got a 7mm08,6.5x55 and a 270wsm but im always pulling my 6.5 outa the safe first!
The only thing I would change would be to get Gunworks or someone to flute the bolt and add a true half cock had it done on the 6.5 and its made the thing even better.Attachment 5242
A-bolt hands down. Especially now that they are similar priced to the cheaper tikka's!!
have 2 tikkas 223 and 308 and love em both, although i'd be happy to own a browning nice looking rifle good reviews personally think it looks abit nicer
The straight mag falls in half, literally. Had it happen when I was using one and it was a known problem. Maybe it's been fixed now, but it's still an arsehole of a thing to carry with a mag that pokes out like that.
PS: And they want wankers money for spare mags.....
Mates .300WM tikka turned up after a 1 month wait from GC, I dont really like the way the mag sticks out and still moves.
Thank you to all who have replied to my thread. I have taken your thoughts into account...especially the "Tikka's are like a Toyota" comment. Lots of reading and research has gone into the final decision. I have held both which was great advice. The choice is a Tikka T3 Lite 7mm08 with a Gunworks supressor. Scope will be a Nikon-Stirling Platinum Nighteater 6-24x44. I have looked into the mag scenario and also note that lots of hunters have a personal issue with the trigger guard so I will report back any issues at all to readers. Hot Barrells!!
Just as a follow up here...the Tikka 7mm08 rem-mag has been awesome! Went for a Bushnell Scope and suppressor from Gunworks. Loading my own 140grm rounds. Sierra Gameking projectiles with Norma brass...a great overall combo for the deer with results.
both are good options, but I would save a few more $ and pick up a 2nd hand Sako 75 when one come up.
Both good rifles I have owned both and an X-Bolt which I have just given my son, while I have kept a T3 6.5/284 and boy it shoots. Only kept the Tikka cause I like the safety on the side better. I would go X-Bolt over A -bolt a much nicer stock.
Didn't realise how old the thread was. Glad you got it sorted.
I've never heard of an issue with the magazines, apart from being expensive.
Should be a great gun.
Congratulations on your new rifle. That's an interesting calibre. Must be a new one. :) I've never seen or heard of a Tikka that doesn't shoot accurately.
The 30/06 is a great calibre, had a Husky in that calibre for a couple of years, a long time ago and it did the job. No advantage though over the .308 with a shorter 20" barrel, which many rifles have these days. Just gives more muzzle blast for no gain.
