    Criterion Pre Fit Tikka

Gidday, has anyone had any experience with the Criterion pre fits on a Tikka. Want to build a short .284 and seems like a good option and seem reasonably priced. Plus no mucking round with getting reaming done etc.
    Cheers

Can’t help with the pre-fit, but my T3 in .284 has a factory 7-08 barrel reamed to .284 Win. Barrel was $250 new and unfired and reaming $150 by Dave Ward. It shoots well sub-MOA with 162 ELD-X over 2213sc. Might be an option and will likely be at least half the cost of your Criterion.

That said, I have a Bartlein on one of my others, so I understand the “need.”

    Cheers

Hard to find people to ream a Tikka these days. $650 for the Criterion pre fits here in Welly.

Its a fairly straitforward business. Just take into account that you'll have to buy or borrow a nut spanner and headspace
    gauges as well.

Its a great quality barrel, good quality workmanship. Go ahead, you would not regret it.

Some might ream if you supply a reamer? Cheaper than a barrel plus you get a lighter profile typically from factory

I’m doing a .284 Win for a mate based on a 20” 7-08. Dave Ward has it now for reaming and should be ready soon. I believe the steel is prone to galling, but no problems with the last one he did for me.

My understanding is the steel is hard and wears out reamers
    If it's yours no drama
Mine was no problem with Mitch maxberry and my reamer
