    CZ527 with threaded muzzle

    Hello people, some wise council.

I have a CZ527 American, in .223. It has a 20 inch barrel with a threaded muzzle. I do not know if CZ ever made this model threaded for a suppresser. I am assuming that someone had it done afterwards, although maybe I am wrong.

If I were to want to get a supressor to have a play with, how do I tell what pitch or size the thread is.

You can buy some different nuts of the estimated thread and see if they screw on. Note that there can be subtle difference in threaded barrels even with the same spec thread.

take it down to waitaki engineering....... 1;20 is very common and your garden variety galvanised nuts just happen to be the same...

Any engineering workshop should be able to tell you.
With calipers and a pitch gauge you can do it yourself, but you might have to run around town to find a pitch gauge. A tap and die set I bought had one included.

If it has a thread cap just take that to any good machine shop and they will tell you.

Well it would be a fair bet it's a 1/2 thread.
Either 20tpi, most likely or possibly 28tpi.
You could try a good ruler for a field test. If the crest of the threads are more than a mm apart than its 20.
If they are less than 1mm it will be 28.
Obviously as long as its 1/2".
This is assuming your eyes are better than mine.
Did a silencer thread on the lathe and had to get someone to confirm the witness test cut matched the thread gauge

I have a new replacement barrel here still sealed in the wrapper , pretty sure its 1/2x 28.

Stand corrected, just screwed a 1/2x 20 dpt suppressor on it.
