You would be talking about madness? I thought his sako was launching 140gr corelokts well over that speed as I remember him saying he was using magnum primers and a few grains over max on win 760 or has he tamed his 6.5 load a bit these days.
As for the original posters question I had a 25-06 once and the rifle was pretty accurate but bullet weight is limited to 117-120 grains whereas the 270 you have a better choice of bullet weights, I used to avoid shooting a 270 at all costs for quite a while as all I used to hear it will boot you etc (which is the biggest crock of shit out there). I have owned a 270 now for almost a year and love shooting it and even the 140 grain bullets are pleasant to shoot.
