Are they being made for Nightforce scopes yet ???

I like the Alumina caps a lot but it wouldnt take much to wreck them compared to the Tenebraex which in my hands, may be more practical.
I lost a Tenebraex ocular cap hunting the other week, someone dropped a rock on my ocular which damaged the cap then it fell off bushbashing. Not a scratch on the scope though.
Did you get another cap gimp ?
Scouser ?
SCOUSER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you have to yell at the pommy git A :D
Hahahahahahahaha
In all honesty a 7mm08 tikka reamed to 284 launching 162s would be a pretty damn perfect all-rounder.
[QUOTE=7mmsaum;561128]Very true, don't forget you can get Magnum performance if required by reaming the same rifle to 7mmsaum giving you 3000+ fps with the 162g Amaxs/ELD-X[QUOTE]
Yeah magnum performance from a magnum :chop:
Magnum is only a label, and most people relate it to cases with belts on them and buckets of powder in them. In truth, the 7mm & 300 saum are really a 284 on steroids. Good, healthy steroids.
Yawnnnnn....erm a 7-08 of course........jaffa cal.......easy init . ....:ORLY:
And @Scouser did you buy one ? :)
9 years on from the Original post -who is still using a 7mm08 as a dual purpose (short and long range) rifle ?
The 140 BT is seriously useful

Me. A7 with 18 " barrel. Projectile by preference 120 NBT but during this shortage using 140 SST. Has never let me down - dialling out to 500 Yards. Currently has a Burris Signature 3-15 HD. Previously a vx6 2-12. Its also my loaner rifle and has been used by several people to shoot their first deer. Never fails.

Me to 162 eld-m doing 2700 FPS for day time and any other projectile for night time, good out to 800 yards not bad for a gay08

What's your barrel length and load @buzzman ?
Old 7mm08 isn't very sexy but seems to work okay!
ME ! My go to rifle , Although I dont do too much dialling with it . Longest shot was this hind at 376 yds which it absolutley dumped

The exit wound

Tikka T3x with an 18" barrell . Over barrell supressor= nice and pointy . 140 gn BT 2700 FPS . Does the job on larger deer too
Attachment 170456
Self imposed limit of 500 yds with this rifle as I beleive 1000 foot pounds of energy is the minimum for a clean kill on deer
I use a tiikka 20" dpt taken couple animals out to 450m with the boone and crocket using factory hornady sst.
My ten year old has taken three deer around the three hundred meter mark with it now.

Yep 18” barrel running factory 150 precision hunter ammo good to 550 on steel so far. Awesome on deer and tahr out to 400. (Young fella not shooting just teaching him technique early).
That's good news as I currently have some factory 150gn precision ammo and the components to load my own
Mine is a 17" barrel, have you worked out the velocity yet ? I haven't had a chance to chrono the factory ammo nor a chance to load any hand loads yet....
800 yards without a scope is bloody impressive @buzzman.

That’s a great looking stock @Mangle
@buzzman you're natural point of aim must be phenomenal for such feats.:D
Tikka t3 18" Hardy can,SHV 4x14.Loaded with 150gr eldx and a dash of 2208(possibly @buzzman 's recipe?).Haves dropped deer at 350m and rang steel at 700m.My 10yr old son has happily shot it on steel out to 300m with no complaints.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ded8613ac9.jpg

I've been using a 7/08 for 10-15 years now. If I do my part, everything seems to fall over from 0-500 yards pretty well.
I am.

140gr NBT @ 2820
Very similar setup to yours. Very nice to use but a bit heavy now.
I have a smaller rifle with a VX3 4.5-14 CDS in mRad on it, so I like the scope although it does compromise on some aspects.
Used the 7mm 08 on a tahr block recently and succeeded with my longest shots ever (wont say what - don't want to encourage others beyond their self-established distances).
It's also very good on the short shots and beautiful to carry in the bush without its suppressor.

There’s a few Sika starting to enjoy the sunny feed faces now that winter is closing, perfect job for the 7mm08
