DIY Zero Stop for Sightron SIII (#scope hack)

Decided to make a simple yet cheap zero stop for my SIII. This could also be used for any other turret style scope, you just have to know the diameter of your scopes turret. All items needed are available at a engineering or hardware store.

    What you will need:

    - x1 25mm copper washer
    - x1 24mm rubber O-ring
    - Black roofing/plumbing silicone
    - A small nail or rivet
    - A cylinder file
    - Some cotton buds
    - A permanent marker

    Total cost: $18

First remove exposed elevation turret cap and check to see if copper washer fits. Should bottom out on scope body. I ended up getting a couple of different size washers just to be sure. The 27mm was too loose and 25mm to small (only just...)

Opted to file the smaller one of the washers and after about 5mins of filing, it fit snug. Checked to see if O-ring fit and also installed turret cap to check fitment then removed both.

Next up I grabbed the small nail and applied a small amount of silicone to the end of it and applied evenly around the base where the copper washer will sit. After applying silicone, wiped up excess with cotton bud. This will stop washer from spinning although mine was tight anyway, it probably wouldn't of moved but I siliconed it anyway.

After that did the same thing again, only this time I applied silicone to the top off copper washer where O-ring will sit. Same deal, clean up excess.

Carefully realign your turret cap to the zero mark and screw it down. Once in place you will no longer be able to see zero index so this is where the permanent marker will come in handy. I opted for a silver pen, visible to the eye and does not wash off easily.

Wait 24hrs for silicone to cure and your're done.

This is an easy upgrade to you scope and it only took me about 20mins to do. Let me know if you try this and also if there are any improvements made.

Nice work dude! I machined a locking collar for a mates s3 aswel also machined 2mm off the base of the turret to allow some more room for the zero stop
